The
Lohr Farm started with Bram and Koos emigrating from
Holland and purchasing the present farm in 1960. Located in the
fertile Annapolis Valley, nestled
under "the Look Off"
the farm is surrounded by natural beauty. The farm changed hands from
father to son in 1987 and is now farmed by Heather and John (Farmer
John himself) and their 4 husky boys.
The farm has rich red glacial soils and a climate moderated by the tides of the Bay of Fundy. Cool breezes
are propelled by the worlds highest tides. The climate and soil act together to produce some of the finest crops in the world. Our Summer Savory is no exception.
Summer Savory is the traditional Maritime herb for meats, beans and many other dishes. It is a short season annual herb and can be easily grown in our climate. Summer Savory imparts a distinctive savory flavor to foods and can be used as a replacement for salt. It is used with soups, stuffings, potato dishes, eggs, fish and many other dishes.
